As you seen, I created hugo image with some St Patrick Day's elements for someone. But they didn't use it :( Just because they thought they were too girly! Oh pls... if you don't want to go with a girly style then you don't find a girly style artist! I doubted their sincere! I did it without any commission and change it few times, and finally they said they don't want do a girly design! They like to talk sweet words to you before starting, in the end, even our name they also can't really remember!

This is the way you show your respect to artists?

It makes me feel sick.

These unique items will be displayed and sold at selected Levi’s® stores, with all proceeds going to the Malaysian AIDS Foundation. Donating your old jeans to charity and getting an RM80 discount on your future Levi’s® purchase; can it get any better than that?

Actually, it does. To encourage the DIY spirit, Levi’s® Brand also lets you take home a piece of custom-designed denim by the three commissioned designers! Every weekend in December, the team from Hugo Garden, Aquarius and Liyana’s will make special in-store appearances to redesign denim pieces from the pool of collected used jeans for visitors. Pen this date in your diary now - 18 January 2009 (10am - 5pm). The very first all-day arts festival is back again!

If you're new to this Open Day thing, it's something klpac started in 2008 and it was an absolute blast! We packed in 5,000 people and brought together some 200 arts practitioners.

Basically, it's one whole day jam packed with FREE performances, visual art installations, theatre and cultural games, arts workshops and demonstrations, staged readings, show previews, film screenings and, of course, the ever popular guided tours.

And if that's not enough to keep you occupied there will be some 60 over stalls on the lawn selling all kinds of interesting goodies and great finds (courtesy of the Bijou Bazaar team)!

MAJOR HIGHLIGHTS

Dont' miss the finals of the FIRST, EVER klpac Idol! Find out who has what it takes - the charm, the personality and, most importantly, the talent to win this prized title.

There'll also be a dance performance in Pentas 1 itself by rising choreographer / dancer Aris Kadir...

Come, check out your local arts centre and find out what is has to offer, meet artistes, ask questions, participate, discover... Nowhere else will you see such a wide array of arts performances and activities in one single day!

The Sentul Park Koi Centre will also be joining this Open Day and there'll be hawker fare at reasonable prices.

Derived from a Japanese term for the sound of conversation ("chit-chat”), a Pecha Kucha is an exciting, fast-paced presentation format. Speakers, made up of the creatively inclined, will present a slideshow of 20 images, each slide shown for 20 seconds.

The result is a high-energy creative showcase where creative people talk about...creative things! Or some say 'a happy crossbreed between an elevator pitch and a slide show'.

ART FOR GRABS Xmas

Art For Grabs is happening again on at The Annexe Gallery on Sat 20 and Sun 21 December, coinciding with the Christmas and New Year season. We're currently on the lookout for art vendors who would like to participate in this shameless orgy of art and commerce.

Each lot is 6 ft wide and 5 ft deep, plus the wall behind you, and costs RM100 for two days. The awesome elevated lofts in both galleries are also available at negotiable prices. What you can sell: Paintings, Photos, Prints, Sketches, Sculptures, Films, Music, Books, Zines, T-shirts, Dolls, Accessories, Recycled, Found objects, etc. You can also use the booth to promote your arts/creative business. No second hand clothes or books, please – this is not a flea market!

This is also your chance to create your own CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR-THEMED GIFTS! Everything you sell must be valued at RM100 or less. We provide chairs but not tables.

Hugo Garden’s花果园

Hugo (Chinese: 花果山；mountain of flowers and fruit) which is a mountain where many monkeys live together in the classical Chinese epic novel.

As we know, monkey is a playful animal and like a lot of fun so we named our group as Hugo Garden’s which sounds like an Eden for us to do our creative design with joyous feeling.

Currently we have 11 members in our group, they are 38monkey, tutu5, minifanfan, eostee, metal, jinn7474, momo, zoe, sioyean, hooyong and anerson khoo. Our group members are not mainly students, some of us are professional designers or photographers. Through this group, we share our ideas and experience with each other in merchandizing our design into products.

Actually our college is a college which with Chinese background. Most of the time, we mix with Chinese friends. Through this group, we wish to exchange idea and experience about design with other races in Malaysia. Like our first event – Rantai Art Event, surprisingly we are the only Chinese group at the event. We knew a lot of Malay friends during the event and also explore how our Malay friends do their design, how they merchandize their design. That event was a really nice experience for us.

In the future, we wish we can gain more experience in merchandizing our design into products and we would like to have our own exhibition too.

Art for Grab which held on 3/5 &4/5 at Annexe Gallery
is the 4th event we join since we have joined Rantai Art Event in last December.

All of us have improved a lot in communicate with our customers, this is what we cant learn in our college.We would like to know more friends through this group too.
Slowly, we will produce more our own products.

De/construction is an exhibition about self-searching by getting lost and breaking rules.

Presented by the final year student from Dasein Academy of Art, the event is organized by 42 students majoring in Graphic Design, Illustratiom and Fine Art; from ideation to production.

With the application of unlimited mediums such as painting, furniture, T-shirt, sculpture etc, you will find that new inspirations are formed by breaking existing perception.

This was an art market at Central World, Bangkok. All the artists gather there every Friday. More than 50 artists were there to sell their creative products. Various products can be found over there, exp: handmade plush toy,necklace,ear ring,postcard,bag,keychain etc. All of them sell different kind of products. I can say that art market in Bangkok is really nice and can explore a lot. In bangkok, you can buy different kind of material easily, that's why all the artists can search for special material to create their creative products.
This event attract a lot of people to hang around there. Grear Event !!

Every first Saturday and Sunday of the month, there is a creative market at Red Dot Design Museum Singapore. The stuffs that they sell are much different with us, exp: plush toys, handmade jewelery, clay key chain, knitting stuffs... every stalls has different products. As a comparison with Malaysia's creative market, most of the creative artists here tend to sell T-shirts. In my opinion, we should see more and learn more to create new things. I think the creative market in Taiwan is more wonderful than us.
